Student Advising Points
General Student’s Committee (AStA) advising
AStA makes politics by students for students and offers a series of advising services for students and also legal consultations.
Semesterticket Office
As representative of the student body, AStA negotiates the conditions for everyone's semester ticket (public transportation pass). At the semester ticket office you can submit your application for financial support or exemtion, if necessary.
Department representative initiatives (FachschaftsINItiativen)
FachschaftsINItiativen - or INIs for short - are student groups who stand up for the concerns of students and improving conditions for studying especially within their own degree program and their faculty. They are active in university politics (e.g. in the Student Parliament, Academic Senate, and Faculty Board, but also in professorial appointment committees) and organize votes, e.g. on the semester ticket. For their degree program, they organize the orientation events, run cafés, and collect and loan old examinations and other studying and informational materials. So they are a good point of contact for daily study concerns. They are also always happy to greet new members!
Advising on social and labor law (students@work)
Students trained by unions offer consultation on student's work-related questions for jobs and internships like contracts, social security, holiday entitlement, sickness etc.
