Combining studying with parenthood is not only a challenge, it is also personally enriching. And you aren’t alone: The percentage of students with at least one child in Berlin is 9% (according to the 21th social survey conducted by the Deutsches Studentenwerk (the German National Association for Student Affairs). For the TU, that would be just 3,000 students with at least one child. On the TU campus, however, students with children are almost “invisible” because most students don’t bring their children with them to university. So that you can still get in contact with other student parents, the TU Academic Advising Service offers an information event on studying with children at the beginning of each semester.
For students with children, the financial budget is often just as tight as the time budget, and it is therefore even more important to have an overview of the counseling and support offers. This website collects the most important information on this topic.
We’re also here for you for personal counseling regardless of whether you’re already studying with a child, whether you’re taking a leave of absence for family reasons, or whether you will soon be a parent.
